Let’s Go Outside

Arbor Signature Dessert

Forget the pub-crawl! Here at luxury boutique hotel, The Green House at Bournemouth’s East Cliff, we’ve just perfected something FAR more civilised – the restaurant hop.

The Green House and three other great East Cliff Restaurants came together last Thursday to offer Bournemouth’s burgeoning population of local food lovers something unique – the chance to enjoy a drink and a different course in each location, all on one night.

Making the most of the golden late summer sunshine, the focus was alfresco (the evening was part of the “Let’s Go Outside” campaign by the Bournemouth & Poole Sustainable Food City initiative). So it was canapés and Pimms Royale cocktails on the cliff top at the Miramar; followed by a classic Smoked Salmon and Crayfish Terrine at the Menzies; then on to the seafront Lido Lounge at the Cumberland for a Dorset Surf & Turf. And finally, a short hop (or stagger!) to the Green House’s lush, secluded gardens to finish the night with one of Arbor’s signature puddings – we like to take classic desserts and give them a modern twist to achieve the perfect combination of sweetness and tang  – matched with local liqueurs and coffee.

What do we love about this idea? Well, for a start you get to sample a number of local restaurants you may have walked past for years but never thought to try –not just the food but the ambience and the surroundings too. Plus of course, it takes the idea of “slow food” to new heights – plenty of time and space to savour, discuss and digest between courses! If you were there, we’d love to hear your thoughts, so tweet or visit our Facebook page if you get a moment.

And if you didn’t make it, well all we can say is… this idea has legs! Judging by the success of this one, there will be plenty more to come. So keep your eyes peeled for forthcoming events on the Bournemouth & Poole Sustainable Food City website or better still, register to receive regular emails on what’s coming up. See you at the next hop!
