New Year’s Eve Green House Style

We are still taking bookings for New Year’s Eve Dinner at Arbor, Gold Trophy winner in last month’s Dorset Tourism Awards and Bournemouth’s latest  2-AA-rosette restaurant. Our amazing New Year’s Eve menu is our way of celebrating a fantastic 2014 by showcasing all our favourite dishes from the year.

We like to start the New Year as we mean to go on here at The Green House, with our luxuriously chilled-out New Year’s Eve packages . It’s the perfect antidote to all the holiday madness, the ideal chance to enjoy some much needed down time with friends and family in comfortable, totally relaxing surroundings.

The special New Year’s Eve menu at Arbor, Gold Trophy winner in this year’s Dorset Tourism Awards and Bournemouth’s latest  2 -AA-rosette restaurant, is amazing value at just £45 for three courses. There’ll be absolutely no turkey, we promise. Our Head Chef Andy Hilton and his team have chosen their favourite dishes from our seasonal menus throughout the year to create Hogmanay heaven!

What’s on the menu for our New Year’s Eve dinner?

For starters choose from our classic twist on Crispy Duck pancakes – made with Crispy Breast of Lamb and Apricot Puree; light-as-a-feather Truffled Gnocchi with Peas and “English Feta”; our very special Broccoli and Buffalo Blue Soup made with cheese from Laverstoke Farm near Basingstoke, one of our treasured suppliers; aromatic Moroccan Spiced Chicken Wings with Jewelled Cous Cous; or wonderfully  fresh Lyme Bay Scallops with Creamed Peas and Bacon.

For mains there’s a wonderful Duo of Venison with Red Cabbage; Cotswold White Chicken with buttery Parsnip Puree; incredibly tender, slow-cooked Pork Cheek with Wholegrain Mustard Potato Cake; beautiful fresh South Coast Turbot with a Saffron, Chorizo and Bean Cassoulet; and, for a vegetarian winter warmer, there’s a Roast Butternut Squash and Rosary Goats Cheese Suet Pudding.

Tough isn’t it? Don’t even get us started on the desserts, then: they have a really comforting, old-school feel, though of course we’ve put our own unique luxury spin on the flavours. The sumptuous dark chocolate delice filled with salted caramel and jewelled with blackberries, served with creamy blackberry ripple ice cream, has Special Occasion written all over it; the Warm Rice Pudding made with oodles of Dorset clotted cream is baked with Nutmeg, Star Anise and Vanilla; while our tangy Lemon Posset plays with the familiar tastes and textures of Lemon Meringue Pie.

After dinner, kick back with a liqueur, glass of port, dessert wine or perhaps a Cognac or Baileys coffee while you count down to midnight; or sample one of our unique house cocktails, such as the Green House Botanical (Langley’s No 8 Gin, St Germain Elderflower Liqueur, Pago Cloudy Apple Juice and plenty of Basil). On the other hand, if you’re ready for something a bit more uptempo, head into town for some late-night revelling.

If you’re staying the night with us (and we sincerely hope you do), just make sure you make it down in time for our New Year’s Day breakfast – full of top-quality New Forest ingredients it’s really not to be missed –  followed, perhaps, by a  bracing walk on the beach, a stone’s throw  from the front door.
