The Green House
Wins “Small Hotel of the Year”
‘The Green House’ an eco-chic boutique hotel in Bournemouth has won the “Small Hotel of the Year” at Bournemouth’s Tourism Awards. The prestigious annual event attracted more than 250 tourism representatives from key sectors of the industry, and was hosted by local newspaper editor, Neal Butterworth, of the Bournemouth Echo.
There were 13 award categories in total. The judges were most impressed with the “professionalism and high standards of customer care” demonstrated by this year’s entrants, whose efforts support Bournemouth’s vibrant tourism industry. Tourism is worth an annual income in excess of £460m to the town and is the biggest employer.
Mark Smith, Director of Tourism says of The Green House:
“The judges were very impressed with the Green House Hotel and its comprehensive commitment to excellence. The development of the hotel showed a genuine care for the environment and demonstrates high standards of sustainability. The hotel has certainly helped improve the town’s portfolio of excellent hotels and we welcome this environmentally sensitive and impressive investment in Bournemouth’s visitor economy.”
The Green House opened in late April this year following an investment of some £5 million. Its specialism is that it is probably the UK’s ‘Greenest hotels’, and ensures that eco-consciousness and sustainability are of equal importance to guest comfort. This ethos runs deep throughout the operation of the hotel as well as its restaurant ‘The Green Room’ where Chef Gordon Jones serves mouth watering local produce, mainly organic and free-range, in his own creative style.
Christopher Airey, Managing Director of The Green House remarked,
“We are delighted to win this award on our home turf. Bournemouth Tourism has been incredibly supportive of our endeavours, and this award is a real recognition of our hotel and its ethos. It has been a team effort though and all staff at The Green House have contributed - this award is a pat on the back to us all.”
