We firmly believe that good things come in three… which is why we’re thrilled to have been shortlisted in three separate categories at this year’s Dorset Tourism Awards.
The Green House, Bournemouth’s eco-friendly luxury boutique hotel, has been shortlisted in three separate categories at this year’s Dorset Tourism Awards.
Having already won a clutch of national awards, the Grade-II listed Green House Hotel hotel will receive either Gold, Silver or Bronze in the ‘Eating Out’, ‘Small Hotel of the Year’ and ‘Sustainable Tourism’ categories of the awards. The ceremony will be held at the Tank Museum, Bovington on Thursday 16 October.
This is the second year in a row that the Dorset Eating Out Awards have recognised Arbor, the Green House’s bistro-style restaurant. Arbor specialises in uncomplicated, honest but imaginative seasonal dishes using a wide range of quality local suppliers such as the English Oak Vineyard and Samways fish merchants.
Olivia O’Sullivan, General Manager at The Green House Hotel commented: “We won Silver last year, so we are definitely going for Gold this time! We are delighted to have been nominated in the sustainable tourism and small hotel of the year categories this year, too – ever since we opened in 2010 we have incorporated the twin principles of sustainability and quality into every aspect of our business.”
The judging took account of entrants’ entry forms, along with a combination of web searches, review sites, emails, telephone calls and/or visits, tastings, plus any available additional evidence.
Recently awarded a Platinum Green Leader rating on TripAdvisor, the Green House puts eco-principles at the heart of everything it does. They are in the fabric of the Victorian building, thanks to a painstaking 18-month eco-refurbishment; in the environmental ethos shared by every member of the team; and in the support for local suppliers, working with them to improve environmental performance where necessary.
In the Small Hotel of the Year category, which is open to Dorset properties with 35 or fewer bedrooms, the Green House was shortlisted thanks to its commitment to creating an outstanding experience for a wide range of visitors, using customer feedback to come up with inspiring offers such as luxury beauty breaks with in-room treatments and invigorating surfing weekends in partnership with local instructors at Surf Steps.
And as a top choice for Dorset weddings – the Green House is one of the Independent’s Top 50 wedding venues and offers 24-hour exclusive use – the hotel highlights the best of local suppliers to its couples and encourages them to think local, too.
“Our commitment to sustainability means supporting the local economy wherever possible, which is why it means so much to us to be recognised not just once but three times in these awards,” Olivia O’Sullivan added. “Everything we do is aimed at ensuring our guests keep coming back to the Green House, so that they can experience everything Bournemouth and the wider area has to offer.”
