We’re a Dorset Tourism Awards finalist!

We are very proud and delighted to announce that Arbor Restaurant at the Green House Hotel has reached the finals of the Dorset Tourism Awards’ Restaurant of the Year category…for the third year running!

The news means we will again be awarded either a Gold, Silver, Bronze or Special award at the Dorset Tourism Awards ceremony on Thursday 15th October at Bovington Tank Museum.

The awards celebrate excellence in tourism across the South West with linked schemes in Cornwall, Devon and Dorset, aiming to promote and reward businesses and individuals in the tourism industry, whatever their sector and size.

This is the third year in a row that the Dorset Awards have recognised Arbor, the bistro-style restaurant housed within the Green House – Bournemouth’s environmentally-friendly luxury boutique hotel.

Arbor specialises in uncomplicated, honest but imaginative seasonal dishes. In line with our sustainable and ethical credentials, we use a wide range of quality local suppliers such as the English Oak Vineyard and Samways fish merchants, and we aim to source our ingredients as close to home as possible. So to be recognised yet again in our home county is extra special to us.

Competition in Dorset is tough – with a 10% increase in entries this year, we were up against some of the best food establishments to be found in the south west.

Awards spokesperson Robin Barker said: “The Awards have hit new heights this year, breaking previous records again following the region’s success in May’s national awards, when we were England’s top region.”

The judging takes account of our entry form, along with a combination of web searches, review sites, emails, telephone calls and/or visits, tastings, plus all available additional evidence.

Olivia O’Sullivan, general manager at The Green House Hotel comments: “Having won a gold trophy at last year’s Dorset Tourism Awards and a silver the year before that, we have high hopes that we can make it another gold this year.

“Since last year’s ceremony Arbor has bagged two AA rosettes, as well as the title of the UK’s most Environmentally Friendly Restaurant in the Sustainable Restaurant Association annual awards.

“While winning awards isn’t the be-all-and-end-all for our head chef Andy Hilton and his team, I know that they would be secretly delighted to make it a hat-trick!”

So even though October 15th will be a busy time for us – we launch our brand new autumn menus the week after, featuring a fresh range of sensational seasonal ingredients from around the South West – we will definitely be taking a couple of hours out to go along to Bovington to collect our award!
