With more cold, windy and wet weekends to come before spring sets in, why not treat yourself to a traditional roast at the 2 AA Rosette, award-winning Arbor restaurant one of these Sundays?
The multi-award-winning Arbor is increasingly becoming one of Dorset’s destination restaurants. We insist on buying local wherever possible, so most of our meat, fish and produce comes from within a fifty mile radius – meaning if it isn’t from our own county it’s usually from a neighbouring one. The restaurant has been awarded Gold in the Dorset Tourism Awards Eating out category for the past three years in a row, and this month topped that off with a Bronze in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards’ prestigious “Taste of the South West” category.
Arbor’s mouth-watering Sunday Lunch is served from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm and the menu changes weekly, depending on what’s good at our favourite master butchers, Walter Rose & Son in Devizes, Wiltshire. Whatever the joint, you can be sure it will be tender and succulent, with just the right amount of marbling, and that the meat will have been farmed sustainably and ethically.
• Our pork, served with homemade apple compote, comes from pigs reared by Cameron and Muriel Naughton at Bishops Cannings, three miles from Devizes. They produce fully-flavoured, tender, succulent meat that’s firm textured, rose pink, with a light covering of white fat and dry rind for fantastic crackling.
• Beef – served, of course, with homemade Yorkshires, comes from farmer Tim Johnson at Stokes Marsh Farm, Coulston, and his herd of Aberdeen Angus and Hereford crosses. Each piece of meat is hung to reach its optimum level of maturity, treated individually, and checked daily. Marbling within gives great succulence and flavour.
• Our lamb is sourced, as far as is possible, from the Wiltshire and Somerset meadows and chalk downlands. New-season lamb is delicately pale in colour and exceptionally tender, with a beautifully sweet and subtle flavour. After a season’s grazing, meanwhile, the more mature meat is reflected in a fuller flavour.
All our Sunday Lunch roasts are served with garlic & thyme roast potatoes and gravy. Vegetarian options are also available. And to round off your meal, you can sample Arbor’s wonderful home-made desserts.
Sunday Lunch is £17.00 per person for 2 courses, or £20.00 per person for 3 courses – amazing value for a 2 AA rosette restaurant that serves only the best quality local produce.
