At the Green House Hotel, we’ve always believed that luxury and sustainability can go hand in hand. Since opening in 2010 our aim has been to prove that you can treat yourself and do good at the same time.
So we’re absolutely delighted and humbled to have been named in the top 10 of the world’s most eco-friendly hotels by Expedia. We came in at number seven overall and were the only UK hotel to be listed.
Judges commented on the fact that everything we do is guided by sustainability. Without ever compromising on your comfort, we aim to keep the environmental impact of everything we buy, use and do as close to zero as possible.
It’s why we ask you to re-use your towels, prioritise local and organic suppliers for our award-winning kitchen, offer free EV charging points, encourage our staff to cycle to work and ensure that all decor and furniture is sourced ethically and responsibly.
Olivia O’Sullivan, The Green House Hotel’s manager explains: “Treading lightly on the world, returning what we take with interest is entirely possible. And it doesn’t have to be worthy. It should, and can be, fun and rewarding. We love what we do here, and the way we do it. I’m incredibly proud that our team has got this recognition, because they’ve worked so hard to keep improving standards for our customers and finding new ways to go greener each year.”
The Expedia report noted we were “equally suitable for weddings, self-care weekends and romantic getaways” and that our ethos “touches every facet of the Green House, from the building’s renewable energy production and Forest Stewardship certified, UK-crafted furnishings to the on-site restaurant’s adherence to local sourcing and high animal welfare standards – the company car even runs on bio-fuel from the kitchen’s old cooking oil!”
And a little added bonus. Just a few minutes’ stroll from our grounds is Bournemouth Beach – voted the UK’s best beach for 2019. We think this is a testament to the wonderful things happening in Bournemouth at the moment, and we invite you to come and experience it for yourself…
