The festive season is well under way – but if you haven’t booked your office celebration yet, then never fear. Arbor, winner of the Gold Trophy for Eating Out in both the 2015 and 2014 Dorset Tourism Awards, has a handful of tables left for mid-week Christmas lunches and afternoon tea.
Over the years Arbor, the 2-AA-rosette restaurant at the Green House Hotel, Bournemouth’s most eco-friendly luxury boutique hotel, has hosted thousands of office Christmas parties (including some memorable ones of our own!). So we know it’s one of the best ways of showing your staff they are valued and appreciated, whether you’re a business of 400 or 4.
However, following the recent tougher economic times, surveys show an increasing number of smaller employers have done away with the Christmas do because of the costs.
If that’s you, may we suggest that 2015 is the year that you surprise your strivers with a little festive shirking to boost morale? While there is no specific allowance for a ‘Christmas party’ as such, Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs does provide limited tax relief for the cost of holding an ‘annual event’ for your staff, as long as the cost per head does not exceed £150 (including VAT). Well, let’s just say that with Arbor involved, that is eminently do-able.

Or for something a bit different, Afternoon Tea is one of our favourite occasions here at the Green House Hotel in Bournemouth and at just £18.50 per person it’s incredible value. Served from 2pm to 5pm, it’s the perfect way to while away a work-free Christmas afternoon – why not even throw in a bottle of fizz for extra brownie points! All the sandwiches, fancies and scones are served freshly made, and our pastry chef Beth will make sure your Christmas tea has some special festive touches.

Head chef Andy Hilton has chosen his favourite dishes from our seasonal menus throughout the year and, for this one night only, is reprising them for our special guests.
